LeechSeed... derived from a potential band name from Duane's friend Jordan. Pre-LeechSeed, when they first talked about forming a band together, Jordan came up with 'HateSeed', this was quickly shot down when a) HateSeed was taken, and b) Duane joined up with Aaron to help form the band - that was yet untitled - called LeechSeed.

The Story

LeechSeed formed under 'Side-project' conditions around September/October 2001, with three out of the four members already being in bands. Jahred [Drums] and Aaron [Guitar] have been in many bands together before, developing their skill together since the early makings of 'Recoil Point 202' and have played at various gigs under various names untill settling on thier new one. Also taking part in another band is Linden [Vocals], who takes the role of many different loonies - and plays bass/backup screams - in Melbourne act 'Doctor Smunk' [Who later dispanded almost a year into LeechSeed's existence]. Duane [Bass] had only one other go in a band, that being Bendigo act - 'Letchary' before being removed of duty one gig later.

Early stages of the band formed when Duane was asked, via friend Micheal ["Mickel"], if he still played bass because Aaron was looking to 'form' a diffent 'metal' band, that was a different style than Recoil. That never eventuated, as they kept their current bassplayer on bass. However, that changed when Recoil Point 202 played at the Old Fire Station in Bendigo, under the name of Zegaria. Duane knew he wanted to play along-side Aaron straight away, and due to Aaron wanting to play a different style of metal - the early workings of LeechSeed were formed.

Jahred was predicted as drummer, but various moments hinted at him not wanting to drum for the band - he later admits that he didn't. However, the search for their vocalist continued... that was untill one night, online friend of Duane - Maya Jeneska of Melbourne All-Girl Hardcore act 'State of Mind' - gave Linden's contacts to him after yet another conversation relating to Doctor Smunk. Anyway, after a quick introduction and a few talks about bass - and Duane having NO idea that Linden could scream - they realised they had a lot of the same interests in bands. The topic of LeechSeed was quickly brought up, and how they needed a new vocalist. "If you didn't live in Botswana, I'd do it" - Linden. Definitely a shock for Duane, who quickly talked to Aaron about the idea. Luckilly through the power of .mp3, and Linden's sheer thirst to be a front man WITHOUT an instrument to hold him back - a decision to join the band was almost made. Yet, Linden didn't know what the band sounded like, and Duane had no idea what Linden sounded like. So, that night - thanks to Linden's idea - Duane took his phone and called him. Linden screamed a spot on rendition of Mu Dv Ay Ne's 'Dig' down the phone, and Duane played the recorded .mp3 drum and guitar tracks of parts of their first five songs back to Linden, and voila - LeechSeed is formed.

The Present

Since the humble beginnings in late 2001, LeechSeed have played with some of the top name's in Australian metal - Segression, The Berzerker, Frankenbok, Earth, The Wolves and Blood Duster to name a few - whilst maintaining a Top 5 position on the Metal Charts at mp3.com.au [finally dropping to 10 in August - 2002, 8 months after their inclusion on the site]. LeechSeed now plan on taking their more developed style [combining mixes of Heavy, Nu/New, Black, Death, Hardcore, Metalcore, Noise and Grind] to as many venues as possible, playing to anyone - anywhere [give and take the cash factor!] and having as much fun as possible in the process.
